Dominican nationality

Granting nationality is a discretionary power of the President of the Republic, which is valid for a period of approximately 8 months to 1 year, in the following circumstances:

  1. Those whose parents are Dominican citizens.
  2. Those who have resided for 6 months in the country, if they have married a Dominican citizen.
  3. Those who can justify an uninterrupted permanent residence of at least 2 years in the country.
  4. Those who have obtained a special concession from the President of the Republic (called "Privileged Nationality") normally granted to foreigners who have meritorious service to the country.
